Dr. Amy Voliva McGinnis-owner. Dr. Amy is a 2005 graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing in the Valley of the Sun for the last 9 years.
She started out of vet school with a rigorous internship at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Bonsall, CA with the esteemed Dr. Barrie Grant, pioneer of the surgery to correct Wobbler’s Syndrome. She then moved to Scottsdale, AZ under the mentorship of the nationally recognized late Dr. John M. Sparks. The untimely death of Dr. Sparks let to the creation of Voliva Equine LLC, a practice dedicated to the highest quality equine medicine. Dr. Amy’s primary focus in the practice is equine sports medicine and acupuncture. Dr. Amy is an active owner, breeder and exhibitor of both Arabian and American Saddlebred show horses. She is married to Pat McGinnis, who maintains a top string of Arabian show horses.
Dr. Sean Peck
Dr. Sean graduated veterinary medical school in 2015 from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Since graduation, he has moved back to his home state of Nevada where he practices large and small animal medicine. In veterinary school, he was fortunate to work with the late Dr. John Sparks along with Dr. Amy Voliva and Dr. Matt Witzel during an externship at Youth Nationals in 2014. Since then, he has remained colleagues with his equine mentor, Dr. Amy. Dr. Sean has a growing interest in sports medicine, acupuncture, chiropractory, and cardiology.
Dr. Sean grew up showing Arabian and Half-Arabian horses at the national level and maintains his passion for the breed to this day. When not involved with horses, he likes to partake in outdoor activities such as boating, water-skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, and off-roading.
In addition to her 12 plus years experience in the management of equine veterinary practices, Gail has been involved in Arabian horses for over 25 years as a farm manager, breeder and licensed judge in the Arabian and Half Arabian Division. She has worked with such notable farms as Strawberry Banks in KY and Meadow Wood farms in WA. She is a graduate of Palomar Jr. College and San Diego State University, majoring in Business. She has attended courses in Equine Management and Equine Reproduction/Semen freezing at Colorado State University. When not involved in work or horse activities, you can find her showing her Pembroke Corgis in competitive obedience and herding. She has achieved one of the highest titles in obedience, Utility Dog, and had the #6 high scoring Pembroke Corgi in the nation as well as High in Trial at the Pembroke Corgi National Specialty.
